ASKA – Weimaraner Mix / 11 months / 15 kg / F-Spayed

We are not big on “breeds” but we can’t help wonder if Aska is part Weimaraner. In addition to being stunning, she is loyal and loves adventure. Her white chest is the giveaway that there is more to this lovely girl, and we think that just adds to her charm.

She is a higher energy girl and she loves to play – whether it be with her dog pals, a game of chase in the back yard, with her new flirt pole, or with her toys. She is a very grateful girl and she has no problem letting you know it. She is incredibly affectionate and comes in for hugs, as if saying thank for this chance at a new life. Foster mom says Aska seems to have three themes; play, food and love!

She can be shy when first meeting people, but warms up quickly with the help of a few well timed treats. We have also noticed that she is very scared of large dogs, but in general loves all others and is quick to find friends. She did pass her cat test in Mexico, but we do suspect she’d want to play with them. She is house trained and crate trained, but she does prefer to not be in her crate.

For her ideal home we would love to see an active family who is home often with an existing (young-ish, active) dog pal in the home. Lots of walks and hikes and adventures would be on the agenda. A secure back yard for zoomies is perfect. People home most of the time is ideal, and if kids – older is preferred only due to her excited nature and we don’t want her jumping up on peeps to be misconstrued as anything other than puppy energy that needs to be redirected. As she does love her treats, she has been a dream to train and she knows sit, place, touch and down. If there is no existing dog pal in the home, we think she’d be fine, provided the humans were active outdoorsy types (if there is no dog pal in the home, we would prefer there not be a cat as well….as Aska will want to play with someone!)

If Aska sounds like your dream girl, check out the adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. Her adoption fee is $750. If you are a family with older kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).
