MONSERRAT – Shepherd Mix / 6 Months / 12.7kg / F-Spayed

How can you resist Monserrat’s soft ears and big brown eyes? This gorgeous girl was rescued off the streets along with her siblings (she’s the smallest of nine!). She grew up on only scraps, and was very skinny when first rescued. Now after some TLC, she’s in Canada, loving house living, and ready to find her forever home!

Monserrat is a “dog’s dog” and would be a fabulous addition to a family looking for a companion for their existing dog(s). She takes some time to warm up to humans but loves other dogs immediately. She is now enjoying being petted and giving her foster people kisses all the time, but most of her kisses are still reserved for her canine foster sister! She is going to thrive with people who can provide lots of structure (and toys) for her active and curious mind, and who will be around most of the time. Monserrat is a smart girl who is getting familiar with basic commands and already plays fetch! House training is going well, and she is still working on leash training but walks well when taking cues from her canine buddy.

Monserrat loves to play with other dogs. A (relatively young) dog sibling to be a companion, help build her confidence, and burn energy is a must. She also needs a secure yard to run around in and explore. Her future family will need to be patient and committed to training this gal so she can be the best dog! Because she still has puppy behaviours like chewing, no young kids in the home for now. Monserrat likes cats and may interact with them – a dog-savvy feline in the home should be fine.

If you believe you’re the right fit for beautiful Monserrat, we’d love to see your application. The adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. Her adoption fee is $870. If you are a family with (older) kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).
