OXXO – Shep-Lab Mix / 3.5 Years / 18kg / M-Neutered

When you ask foster mom about Oxxo, the first thing she says is that he is easy! He is easy to have in the house – he puts himself to sleep in his crate, he is house-trained, he gets along well with the dogs in the home, he loves to play with his kong all day long. You know what the best part of the kong is? It’s the bounce! (You thought we were going to say the peanut butter, didn’t you!?)

Oxxo absolutely LOVES everybody. When he meets new people he is very enthused and excited to check them out. As for joining his inner circle, he will be a bit reserved until he feels comfortable. With his foster parents he is very affectionate, but he isn’t one to put his heart on his sleeve. Totally fair, Oxxo, the right people will take the time to earn your love.

His eagerness for all things outside is a 10 on the enthusiasm scale. When he thinks it’s time to go for a walk he is so excited to go, and when he bursts out of the front door, his initial “HELLO WORLD” bark is followed up by “hey friends”, “hey squirrels”, “hey strangers”. His greetings don’t bother his foster family, as a happy dog is a joy, but we know that barking isn’t well received by all. He is getting a halti to help minimize his pulls and continued training (distraction training with treats) will break this bad habit.

He can be intense with cats and we prefer he be cat free in his future home.

He was a shelter favourite at PAR, and we can all see why. If Oxxo sounds like he could be your new buddy, check out the adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. His adoption fee is $750. If you are a family with kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).
