McSCRUFF – Terrier cross / 3 years / 10kg / M-Neutered / $550

McScruff is here and his foster family is smitten. He is quite happy-go-lucky and taking this new way of life in stride. Snow – no problem! New dogs – no problem! New peeps – got it! He aims to please and is catching on to the nuances of house-training

Overnight, he sleeps quietly in his crate and the goal is to get him crate-free, as he is not destructive and just likes to curl up by his people. Other new adventures have included household guests, new dogs in and a visit to the other dogs’ house too – and he handled it all like a champ. Don’t get us wrong: he is a terrier, so he does have a strong personality. He still is thoughtful about who’s talking on the TV and kept the garbage truck away by barking from safely inside!

We’d love his new family to have terrier experience, as they do have quirks (terrier peeps know what we mean!). He prefers to cuddle up to you before you pet him – fortunately he likes his cuddles! High value treats were an issue at the beginning, but his foster mom is working on that with him, and he has done so well in just a short amount of time. His ideal home will be kid-free (or older kids only), have access to a safe outdoor space for zoomies, and have companionship with people home most of the time. He enjoys a dog pal but is independent enough to be on his own for a few hours here and there, supported by playing with his people and toys. He did pass his cat test in Mexico, but again…he is a terrier, so ideally dog-savvy or no cats would be best.

We’d love to see McScruff in a home with people who have terrier experience and he’d do best in a home with older or no children. He also passed his cat test in Mexico.
