Supply and Flight Lead

DIBS likes to ensure our fosters are set up for success and our supply management is part of that goal. Someone in this role needs to be close to Pearson Airport, as well close to our storage locker in MIssissauga.

There are a few aspect within this role, and all help us put our best foot forward in managing logistics of “things”

  • Supply Organization/Preparation ~ When we have incoming flights, we typically have a lead person, that gathers supplies, interacts with the flight parent, and ensures all dogs are safely handed off to the foster parents.  We have lots of experience and protocols in place: we just need a lead!  We typically hope our foster parents can fill the role for the night, as they will be on site, but sometimes the stars don’t align. If a foster parent is available, we still need the supply lead to help keep us organized.
  • Crate return to Pearson ~ when we get volunteers flying south, they are often able to take crates with them on their flight. We typically send 2-4 stacks of crates/bags at a time. DIBS volunteer would take these items to Pearson and either drop curbside or help the flight parent with check-in (depending on their experience and confidence)

Many roles at DIBS are virtual, but this role is hands-on!  (Location matters!)

The time commitment depends on the number of flights we have per week. Some weeks it may be zero flights. Other weeks there may be three!

Requirements for the role(s):

  • Close proximity to Pearson (Mississauga is ideal)
  • Ability to go to Pearson airport for incoming flights
  • Gather supplies for DIBS fosters and bring to the flight pick-up
  • Ability to learn the processes and follow guidelines (we have safety protocols in place, to ensure the dogs are secure and safe)

Supply and Flight Lead

We are looking for a volunteer with close proximity to Pearson, as well as our storage locker in Mississauga. Every few weeks (sometimes more, sometimes less) we need empty crates to go to the airport, or we need foster supplies prepared for incoming dogs.

For this role, supplies will need to be gathered in advance, either solo or with the help of other DIBSters. The lead will need to always be on time (or early) for flights to ensure fosters get their supplies.
