BELLO – Lab Mix / 3 Years / 15 kg / M-Neutered
If you’ve seen Bello’s (pronounced BAY-oh) viral video, then you know how special he is. But Bello is so much more than his rescue story… he really is an incredible dog and the epitome of man’s best friend.
Bello has been in his foster home for over a week and while foster mom thought it was taking him a while to settle and figure things out, he was really just showing her all of the different sides of him! Bello is intelligent, kind-hearted, sensitive, silly, and stubborn.
Before foster, Bello spent nearly 2 years in a shelter getting stronger and waiting for his turn to come to Canada. You would never know he’s never lived in a home before because his indoor manners are perfect! His leash skills? Impeccable! Bello thrives having humans that support him through new situations. Bello is eager to please, and trusts his humans will be patient and reward praise when he is facing new situations like walking a busy city street, visiting a pet store, or meeting a dog. Bello requires slow introductions with other dogs. He does not have a typical “reactivity”, but shows signs of discomfort when meeting new dogs. He needs a confident handler to respect his need for personal space and advocate for him until he’s comfortable to approach another dog.
If there’s an existing dog in the home, Bello would be best paired with one that is confident and medium energy. Bello enjoys play sessions with toys (especially tennis balls), and his nightly run with foster mom. He doesn’t require a yard, but does require a family with a focus on daily exercise. This guy loves to hike! Bello is skittish with sudden movement and noises. We don’t recommend he joins a family with children. He has not been cat tested in Canada, but did pass his cat test in Mexico.
