Benita – Retriever mix / 2 years old / 22kg / F – Spayed
Meet Benita, a sweet old soul, in a young dog body. She’s a bit subdued and takes some time to warm up to new people, but it’s totally worth it when she does – she becomes so cuddly and playful! We assume that Benita must have been a pet, as she is housetrained and has really great house manners for the most part. She doesn’t bark or jump on the furniture, and is comfortable in her crate. At times, her excitement gets the best of her and she will jump up and nibble fingers a bit to get more pets. She is great on a leash and loves rolling in the snow (it’s adorable!)
Benita has 2 levels of happiness, and we are aiming for her future home to bring out the highest level in her. She loves being with her foster mom and is enjoying their walks together, and going for weekend hikes. But she is her happiest when she gets to hang out with other dogs! Benita became a whole new girl, loving life as she played with her new friends. She loves adventure and on a recent trip to a farm she had a great time with all of the animals (dogs remain her favourite though). She needs to live with a canine pal who is chill in the house and not too rough as a playmate. A secure backyard is also a must for off-leash playtime, and so she can do her business in private (although she’s gradually getting over her bathroom shyness!).
She would do best in a calm neighbourhood, with people who have dog experience and ideally are home a lot. Benita did well on her cat test in Mexico. No young kids please! This girl appreciates a calm life.
If you have an existing dog, meet her requirements, and if you’re interested in adopting Benita, visit www.dibsrescue.com for the adoption process and application. Her adoption fee is $750.
