CALLIE – Labradoodle / 8.5 years / 30kg (overweight) / F-Spayed
Although Callie is not a DIBS dog, we are working with her guardian to find her a new home or a temp foster home, while we wait to find her forever family! This poor gal’s owner recently passed away, and she is looking for a new home to love her unconditionally.
Callie is described as a family dog through and through. She has spent her entire life living with dogs, cats and older children, and loves being a part of the pack. She is easy going and enjoys short strolls, long naps and spending time with her people or furry siblings. Callie is used to a few short walks a day, and is on the low-energy side. She does well being left alone, and is friendly with everyone she meets.
Callie is a tad overweight and is on a weight management plan to lose a few pounds. She also has an injured knee, and will be getting surgery for this soon. Her specialist believes she will be back to her neighbourhood strolls about 3 months post-recovery, but in the meantime, short breaks outside is all she needs. Callie has pet insurance, and her guardians are happy to cover the cost of vetting to get her back up to speed.
Callie is living in the balance, and looking forward to a bright future ahead. We are looking for a home for Callie with a chill cat or dog in the home (or both!), and people that are home often. Despite her kind spirit, this easy going gal will do best with kids that are past the toddler stage, ideally 8+.
Her guardians will be arranging for Callie’s surgery, once a foster family is found! Her place of recovery would ideally be a bungalow or a home without a lot of stairs and a human bestie to hang with her.
If you are ready to be Callie’s new family or foster family, please apply at www.dibsrescue.com and check out the adoption process and application. Her adoption fee is $500. If you are a family with older kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).
