CORNELIA – Lab/Shepherd Mix / 11 Months / 15kg / F-Spayed

We get it, Cornelia, you’re gorgeous and should already have a dog modelling contract by now – but first you need to be scouted for your forever home!

Cornelia is a curious, confident cutie (say that 3 times fast!). So far, she has adapted well to city apartment living and isn’t spooked by loud noises. She’s highly food motivated but learns very quickly what you are asking from her even without treats – this girl loves to work! She also loves human affection as much as she loves food. She’ll typically come up to you and rest her head on your lap as her way of asking for pets.

Cornelia is pretty independent, but needs a family who will do lots of activities with her since she just loves to have fun. Long walks and hikes with her peeps are what she’s looking forward to in a future home. Cornelia will need an active doggy sibling in her future home to keep up with her play. She passed her cat test in Mexico.

Cornelia’s leash skills are improving every day. Even though she has a tendency to pull, she’s learned to walk by your side without straying too far, and even sits without being asked when you stop walking. House manners are a work-in-progress (as is often the case when a dog is very, very into food). Her jumping habit can be mitigated with lots of exercise and mental stimulation – her new home needs to be fully on board with continuing this training! Obedience is going well: she knows how to sit, down, and come reliably. She is doing well with place training and responds to her release word when waiting for food or to be invited to walk through any door.

If you are interested in Cornelia, check out the adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. Her adoption fee is $870. If you are a family with older kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).
