ELARA – Shepherd Mix / 4 Years / 16.5kg / F-Spayed

Oh Elara…what are we going to do with you and your ears?! We can barely fit them in a photo!

This puppy-at-heart has been winning over humans and canines alike ever since her paws touched Canadian soil. Elara is very playful – especially with fellow dogs – and affectionate with those she trusts. She’s the kind of dog you can take anywhere with you — she’s always happy and shows it through butt wiggles and many many kisses. She loves nothing more than alternating between people to get as many pats as possible. She’ll even give you a little nudge if she wants more.

On one hand, she’s adventurous and up for for trying many different activities, be that a day at the beach or making as many new friends as she can. Sweet Elara wants to be brave all the time, but she does have moments where she turns to the dog in her foster home for guidance. She will need a dog pal in her future home for companionship and to help her maintain confidence.

Elara is a gal of diverse interests: happy to sniff around on a walk and then hang out by your side, running around the yard and then relaxing in the shade. She absolutely loves toys…all of them. Some other awesome things about her? Elara is amazing on leash, whether you’re on a leisurely walk or going for a bike ride. She is fully housetrained and good in her crate (she even goes there for some downtime of her own accord), sleeps like a pro, and is doing well with her basic commands. She can actually roam the house while you run errands –just make sure you put everything away and get her to exercise beforehand!

We look forward to matching Elara with a family that meets her needs and is committed to continuing her training. Her dream home would have her people home often, a secured yard to run around in and explore, and a confident yet playful canine dog pal to show her the ropes. Since she is mouthy and jumpy when playing/excited, she will need a home with dog savvy and/or older children (12+ yrs old). She is cat-friendly too (she passed her cat test in Mexico; She was very chill, just watching the cats and letting them approach her).
