MANDIBULIN – Mini-Shepherd Mix / 1 year / 15kg / M-Neutered

Sweet boy, Mandibulin has truly blossomed since arriving at his foster home. He still approaches new situations with a tinge of shyness but with his canine foster bro at his side, he knows that he can do anything! One of the best things about him is how goofy he is, he loves to engage his canine foster brothers in play and is very fond of squeaky toys. He is living out his puppy years at the ripe age of 1, but with the manners of an adult dog (a win win)! Mandi listens incredibly well to his foster mom and when he’s not engaging in play, he will cuddle up in a dog bed or his crate. He learned the house rules right away and is very respectful. He is such a treat to have in the home and is so eager to please.

Mandibulin is house trained and crate trained. He is learning to walk on leash as walks can still be a bit scary to him. But with each walk he takes, he gets better and better. So far, Mandi knows sit, come, and is working on place. He is a quick learner and very food motivated. Mandibulin did suffer a jaw injury while in Mexico and it presents itself in a few missing teeth and a funny way of eating (its really cute). We don’t know exactly what happened in Mexico, but Mandi has shown to be a bit more fearful of men vs women. But he will eventually warm up to men with a lot of treats, he is quickly learning that foster dad isn’t so bad!

For his future home, it is imperative that Mandibulin has a canine sibling in his home. He prefers smaller dogs or the same size but is pretty respectful with all dogs. He is still shy so someone who is willing to work on his confidence will be key. Someone who is home most of the time would be great for Mandi as well. Mandibulin passed his cat test in Mexico. He does tend to jump on humans when excited, so older, sturdier kids would be best.

If Mandibulin sounds like your guy, please check out the adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. His adoption fee is $750. If you are a family with older kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs).
