MAXIMILIANO- Retriever Mix / 1 year / 20 kg / M- Neutered

We asked Maximiliano’s foster parents what their favourite thing about him is, and they had lots to say! “He is really such a sweet dog! He’s so happy to be petted and to be around us. Makes us smile every day with his excited little waggy tail. Jack can be a little bossy with him and he takes it all in stride like a champ.” (Swoon!) Max is a happy-go-lucky guy and is happy to go with the flow, putting his full trust in his people. He also gets along with other dogs as well and enjoys playing with his foster brother (We are guessing he is good with cats, but foster parents are going to arrange a play date to see how it goes).

In the home, Max is amazing! He is fully house-trained and he sleeps quietly in his crate at night. He loves his toys and gravitates towards chew toys. His affection gets the best of him and he occasionally jumps up on people, so we think he’d be best with sturdy/older kids only (We are working on his manners).

On walks, Max is super confident and adjusts well to various different surroundings and different people. During walks, his foster mom says he needs zero reassurance. He tends to pull on his leash so continued training will be needed to work on his leash manners. Foster mom is off to buy a haltee for him to see if it helps.

His peeps say he is “one of the happiest dogs I’ve ever met” and we want to give him all that he wants, to keep that smile on his face. Max is looking for a home with a secured yard to play in, people around a lot to take him on many fun adventures (hikes, camping, etc.), and other dogs to play with (either an existing dog pal or at least lots of playdates).

If this sounds like your home, check out the adoption process and application at www.dibsrescue.com. His adoption fee is $750. If you are a family with older kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).
