MOANA – Retriever Mix / 1.5 years / 7.4kg / F-Spayed

Moana ia part of our “foster to adopt” program. If her foster family decides to adopt her, they get first dibs. If she isn’t a match, we will review other applications at that time.

Sweet Moana is a big personality in a lovely little body. When she is in her comfort zone, she is confident, happy go lucky and a joy to be around. Her foster mom says she may be the smartest dog she has ever met, which is a great thing. But, she does have a stubborn streek so even when she learns new skills, she has no problem looking at her peeps as if to say “Ahora no” (Not now!). She has only been in Canada for a week, and she is having a hard time adjusting to new situations – people, places and things. Her confidence falters and she retreats with a bark and a growl: nothing feels quite as safe as that spot behind foster dads legs!

In Mexico, she passed her cat test (check out videos on DIBS youtube channel) and in real life she does bark at outdoor critters. We suspect she may be ok with cats in the home, provided they aren’t scary. She will need time and training to help her become the well balanced girl she was in Mexico. Her confidence could come down a bit and her bravery could come up a bit. Once those two meet up a bit, she will be so much more balanced and content outside of the home. Just like cats, kids can be scary, so her future home will be kid free! A full time dog pal is a must for her.

If Moana feels like your soulmate, please visit www.dibsrescue.com for the adoption process and application. Her adoption fee is $750.
