OLIVER – Terrier Mix / 9 months / 9kg / M-Neutered
If you know terriers, you know Oliver. He is incredibly handsome, smart and he has ideas! In his foster home, he adores his foster dad and canine foster bro (who is a smidge older and a lot bigger). They love to play together, but when the rough-housing gets to be too much, wee Oliver can find himself intimidated and agitated. If he has a dog pal in the home, perhaps a more mature buddy with a good playstyle would be best for Oliver. When spooked or out of his element he tends to posture a bit, as terriers do (fake it ’til you make it!)
He is a smart kid – has mastered housetraining, sleeps in his crate like a champ, will work for treats and is great on walks. He is learning to be less scared of small kids, and he gains confidence around them when the kids ignore them. As a youngster, he is in the chewing phase: we think he knows it is wrong, but he can’t help but gravitate towards items that smell like his beloved humans. Distraction and training are working and will need to be continued in his new home.
His future family should have a dog pal, or regular playdates (no dog parks, of course). If there are kids, older only please. Terrier experience is preferred. He did pass his cat test in Mexico, but did we mention he is a terrier? (Do check out his cat testing video on our website or on our youtube channel)
If you think he sounds like a match, please review our application details at www.dibsrescue.com. His adoption fee is $750. If you are a family with older kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs/).
